517 Austin Street
What is now the Apple Cottage B&B was built in 1877 as a parsonage for the Methodist Episcopal Church. It was restored in 2005 with its original wood floors, beaded ceilings and plastered walls. The exterior of this fachwerk style home was stuccoed several years later. You’re welcome to wander around the immediate neighborhood to view other historic structures.
The spacious living area has comfortable recliners to rest, read or visit. The main bedroom features a queen-sized bed. A smaller bedroom is available for 1-2 children. The kitchen is equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, toaster & coffee pot. There is an ample bathroom with shower and also an additional sink & dressing area in the adjacent laundry room. On the east side of the house you’ll find a dining table, great for watching the sunrise. Out back you’ll find the historic cistern and windmill as well as covered seating area.
